This was the best year so far in my Christian walk. It has given my a purpose and a direction in life and I learned that I need to use what God has given me to glorify Him.
We have all been given a twofold purpose in life; to allow God to finish the work in us and to finish the work in the world by spreading the gospel to all who haven’t yet heard the good news.
I realized more and more that the Christian walk is not supposed to be an event, but a process. God has helped me to understand that it is time to get my hand to the plough.
I praise God for Matteson Mission School because it produces long-term missionaries, not only people that know the bible very well.
Being at Matteson Mission School is character building.
Matteson Mission School helped me to understand what it means to be a missionary for life. I know I am not the same, my life has been changed.
I have experienced the depth of Adventism and its beauty and I thank God for this essential experience.
I was very pleased with the activity of the school. The students are very fine young people, very committed and with a good grasp of real life.
Dear Matteson, my life has been convicted by quality of students that have attended you. Your students have reminded me that loving Jesus should be as natural as breathing. They have shown me that service is more important than self. The Lord bless you
Coming to the mission field I finally have the opportunity to put interest and theory into practice. I have the great privilege of teaching a seven-year-old girl. The only way to do it properly is to surrender everything into the Great Teacher´s hand. I can feel how He leads step by step and how He gives creative thoughts and hints. God has really shown me what it is to trust in His work and His guidance.
Since the third day in Honduras I feel like I have risen from the dead in a very literal sense (I was sick with fever on day 2 and cannot remember that day). The time here at VIDA Internacional is amazing in every way, with very practical hands-on experience. I have been blessed by giving classes to a six-year-old boy, which has significantly helped me understand a little bit more of the patience and love that our Heavenly Father has for us.
”For the word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of thoughts and intents of the heart” Heb 4:12
God has been very busy with piercing and shaping my heart during this trip. He has shown me my good and bad sides in a very clear light.
“Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven” Matthew 19:14
During the time here in Honduras I had the privilege of working with the children from the little town El Suyatal. We could really see what happens, when you open the door for them. We offered a children’s lifestyle week, and called it “Teen Health Team”. In the beginning they made the Teen-Health-Team-commitment, which included, no snacking, no sweets, no meat, no soft-drinks, … It is amazing when they tell you: “Those chips made me really hungry, but then I prayed that God would help me not to brake my commitment, and the hunger was gone” Praise the Lord! Such experiences will help them in their future life. The children liked the program so well that we are planning a follow-up.
I came to Honduras without thinking that I would have very much work in healthcare. But one of the first days we went to a lady that was sick. She had a very big wound and the leg was really swollen. She has had it for more than 2 years and it is just a miracle that she still has her leg. I have had the privilege of visiting this lady and do wound care almost every day. It has been a big blessing for me. To go and serve others is something that just makes you happy and you feel closer to God! To treat someone with natural remedies is a very good way to show God’s love!
The mission trip is a great opportunity to put the things into practice that you have learned throughout the school year so far. I have the blessing to help out with the media work, which I really enjoy! I am especially happy to be doing this work because I feel that God is calling me to do something like this in the future.
I have really enjoyed this mission experience with these wonderful open-hearted people, who are happy and easy to get in touch with. Seeing how God is working through us here and experiencing how He helps us face the challenges that we meet every day is a great blessing. Consistent prayer together has by God’s grace opened my eyes in many dimensions and has helped me personally to grow closer to Him.
This is a mission experience that I will be able to take with me wherever God sends me to work. May the Lord give us all strength and wisdom to finish the work in this generation!
I didn’t know why but Jesus wanted me to come to Matteson. Day by day I learn more why: He teaches me so many things. I love the classes that we have. It is not important if it is church history, nutrition, biblical doctrines, true education, colportering or gardening. The way of learning is different – we learn for life and not for a test, we learn for ourselves not for our teachers. Practical work outside, cooking, cleaning, outreach, worships together and family meetings became very special to me. The variety of the program makes life colourful and helps me to understand one more part about Gods character.
